The Dental Complaints Resolution Service was launched in early 2012, and so is not able to accept complaints that arose before January 1, 2012.
Before sending us your complaint you should know that there are some other things that we cannot look at.
Complaints arising from the treatment of a patient under the medical card scheme or the PRSI cannot be resolved with the assistance of the DCRS and any complaints for treatments provided under these schemes should be referred to the HSE or the Department of Social Protection in Letterkenny as appropriate if the complaint cannot be resolved with the treating dentist. We also can’t look at staff matters – such as recruitment, pay and discipline – or at commercial or contractual issues.
In some cases, there may be a more appropriate organisation to deal with your complaint. For example, for some complaints the only or best way for you to get the remedy you want may be by going to court.
For complaints about the competence, conduct or behaviour of a dentist that raise questions of patient safety, we may decide to recommend to you that you approach the Dental Council of Ireland. We cannot accept complaints on dental work outside the Republic of Ireland.
To check that we can help, you can email us at mary@dentalcomplaints.ie. Alternatively you can call Mary on 087 354 5842 and if she is not available, Mary will return your call at the earliest point possible.
